Biography
Julia Schwartz was born in Columbus, Ohio, USA in 1963. She received early musical training from her parents, both professional musicians. After graduating from the Oberlin College Conservatory with a bachelor's degree in voice she continued her studies in voice and music theory in Munich and Zurich. During that time she performed in programs of various types, including sacred music, art songs, and musical theater.For the last several years Julia Schwartz has devoted herself to composing instrumental and vocal chamber music and creating electronic soundscapes for the theater. Two pieces for solo piano, Variations, Additions and Distractions and Color, Form and Dissolution, were recorded by Hans Jörg Fink for Swiss Radio DRS2. She sings with musicaldente (formerly Ensemble Frauen Felder ) and teaches voice privately. Julia Schwartz lives in Frauenfeld, Switzerland.
